Profile of Kigimex
I. History of establishment
- Forerunner of Kien Giang Import & Export Joint Stock Company (Kigimex) was Nam Hai Port Import-Export Company (a State-owned company) established in 1975, which was directly under Western port Import-Export Company whose head office is located in Can Tho city.
- In 1976, the Company’s name was changed to Kien Giang Foreign Trade Company, which was under the People’s Committee of Kien Giang Province.
- In 1981, the Company’s name was changed to Kien Giang Export Inc.
- In 1982, the Company’s Name was changed to Kien Giang Import – Export Inc., which had affiliated companies such as Fruit & Vegetable Import & Export Company, Vegetable Oil Company, Remittances shop, Agriculture products & Food Export Company, Pineapple Frozen Factory, Seafood Export Frozen Factory, Kien river’s fleet.
- In 1988, the Company name was changed to Kien Giang Import-Export Company (Kigimex), which is a 100% capital State-owned company directly under Kien Giang province.
- In 1992, under Decision No. 542/UB-QĐ dated 19 August 1992, The People’s Committee of Kien Giang Province decided to establish Kien Giang Import & Export Company (a State-owned company) following Import and Export Business License No. 4081004 issued by Department of Commerce dated 01 March 1993.
- In April 1994, Kien Giang Food Company was merged into Kien Giang Import & Export Company.
- In 1995, Kien Giang Import-Export Company (Kigimex) transferred 100% owners’ equity to Vietnam Southern Food Corporation (a State-owned company) under Decision no. 071/TCT/TCLĐ-QĐ dated 25 November 1995.
- On 31 May 2005, Kien Giang Import-Export Company was changed to One-member Company Limited (Kigimex) (a State-owned company) under Decision no. 123/2005/QĐ-TTg issued by the Prime Minister.
- On 22 June 2011, the Company was changed into Kien Giang One-member Import-Export Co., Ltd (Kigimex) (a State-owned company) with 100% State owners’ equity directly under Vietnam Southern Food Corporation.
- On 01 July 2016, the Company was changed into Kien Giang Import & Export Joint Stock Company (Kigimex) with 83.31% State owners’ equity directly under Vietnam Southern Food Corporation (a State-owned company) and 16.69% private shareholders.
- Kigimex is now located at 85-87 Lac Hong Street, Vinh Lac Ward, Rach Gia City, Kien Giang Province, Vietnam.

- The Company has been issued the certificate by the NQA Organization, which is suitable with the standards of ISO 9001:2015 on quality management.
II. Business field and processing capacity of Kigimex
1. Food Industry
The Company has 05 factories producing and trading rice with modernly – invested storage and epuipment as follows:
- 03 lines for drying paddy with the output of 90,000 metric tons per year.
- 03 milling lines with the output of 160,000 metric tons per year.
- 15 polishing lines with the output of 300,000 metric tons per year.
- 15 sortex machines with the output of 170,000 metric tons per year.
- 01 to 50 kg bag packing lines with the output of 200 to 1,500 metric tons per day.
- Warehouses with the capacity of over 150,000 metric tons, the construction areas of warehouses with over 80,000m2.
- Ability to provide high quality paddy and rice products to satisfy the demand of domestic and foreign customers with the output of 300,000 to 500,000 metric tons per year.
2. Aquaculture Industry
- The Company has one factory purchasing and processing anchovy with the certification of ISO 22000:2005 and the drying ground of over 5,000m2.
- 03 vessels for purchasing anchovy with the total capacity of 80 metric tons.
- 01 cold storage with the capacity of over 300 metric tons.
- Ability to purchase and process fresh anchovy at 1,200 – 1,800 metric tons per year.
- Ability to provide products of anchovy with high quality and hygienic safety for domestic and overseas markets with the quantily of 300 - 450 metric tons per year.
3. Petrol Industry
The Company is “The trader for distributing petrol” acknowledged by the Ministry of Industry and Trade with modernly invested and standardized infrastructure, including:
- 01 base depot with the capacity of 4.6 million liters of assorted petrol.
- 05 petrol retail stores directly under the Company and the petrol distributing system with over 60 agents spread throughout Kien Giang province and the surroundings.
- 02 Lighters specialized in transportation of petrol with the capacity of 390,000 liters.
- 06 tankers for transportation of petrol with the capacity of 70,000 liters.
- Ability to provide 40 - 50 million liters of petrol per year for the markets of Kien Giang province and the surroundings.
